Need Help or Would Like to Help?
In March 2020, Mesa launched a Mesa CARES initiative in an effort to connect individuals, families, and businesses who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to available resources. The City of Mesa received federal funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to provide financial relief to address community impacts due to the public health emergency of the Coronavirus Disease 2019.

From the City of Mesa Community Services Department:
Thank you to all of our volunteers, faith-based organizations, and other agencies who have stepped up to support the needs of our seniors in Mesa over the past nine months with a program that was made in response to quickly meet an immediate need in our community. The Adopt-A-Grandparent program as it currently operates will be transitioning to a close by the end of February 2021. It is now the goal of the Adopt-A-Grandparent program to make sure that our seniors are matched with more comprehensive, long-term care if still needed. With that in mind, Aster Aging is an organization in Mesa that assists seniors with things from grocery shopping trips, rides to doctor’s appointments and prescription pick-ups, and companion visits through their “Neighbors” program, as well as distributing Meals on Wheels. They are actively onboarding volunteers to help fill the need of assisting our incoming Adopt-A-Grandparent seniors.
