What is Community Outreach?
At Unity of Mesa, we know that love grows through service. Our Community Outreach Ministry is dedicated to expressing the Five Basic Principles of Unity by recognizing that all people are divine and putting our spiritual values into action. Through outreach projects, volunteer opportunities, and partnerships with local organizations, we offer compassion, hope and practical support to our community. We believe that inspired action has the power to transform lives and build stronger, more connected communities. Whether we’re serving a meal, collecting supplies, supporting a neighbor or offering a loving heart, we strive to be the hands and feet of Love in this world. What we do
We partner with four charities per year. For each charity, we conduct a drive to collect items for the charity to distribute as needed. We also plan an opportunity to serve in-person with the charity on one or two dates as well.

Current Outreach Project
In August and September, we are working with St. Vincent De Paul. St. Vincent de Paul operates a food bank in central Phoenix and dining rooms around the valley, including a dining room in Mesa. We are conducting a food drive with the goal of collecting 1000+ pounds of food bank which will get us into the 1000+ lbs club. There are additionally two days to volunteer to serve at the Mesa Dining Room. See details below.
Food Drive
Aug 16 – Sept 20
Most needed items:
We will serve at the Mesa Dining Room (49 W. Broadway). Volunteers work from 8am to noon. In the beginning of the shift, you’ll have a project (like making sandwiches for bagged lunches). Next, you’ll help prepare for and serve a hot lunch. The Mesa dining room serves around 170 people each day!

Food Drive

- Canned proteins (tuna, chicken)
- Canned soup (pop-tops)
- Canned fruit and canned vegetables
- Dry beans, beef jerky
- Mac-n-Cheese boxes
- Peanut butter (plastic jars)
- Rice, pasta
- Flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder
- Instant potatoes
- Breakfast Cereal, granola bars
