With gratitude for the 35 years this roof sheltered us, and for the ability to bring it down safely in the timing of our choosing, our Sanctuary roof trusses were carefully removed May 26-29.

Our Garden has such a peaceful energy that a hive of bees decided to hang out for awhile. At least until the nice beekeeper could remove and relocate them for us. (Yes, it was a good size hive. About 2-1/2' long.)
Notice any of the work that's been done? Prior to replacing the roof and moving the south wall 8' closer to the parking lot... EXTERIOR PREPARATIONS 1. Construction Fence up. 2. Dumpster delivered (east end). 3. Two roof-mounted A/C units removed (photo below). 4. Water valves & lines moved. 5. 2 Palm Trees down. 3 stumps ground. INTERIOR PREPARATIONS (see photos below)
1. Ceiling & Insulation Down 2. Asbestos tested. 3. 20 sq. ft. of Asbestos removed (on ductwork tape). 4. Ductwork removed. 5. Wiring re-rerouted. Renovation plans include adding a Unisex / Family / Handicapped bathroom next to the existing Women's Restroom. To do that, plumbers have to tie into the sewer line, which requires digging up the Women's Restroom flooring. Good thing we're planning to renovate that bathroom anyway! (New flooring, sinks, stalls, toilet and decor.)
We are finalizing the loan structure for congregants lending funds to Unity of Mesa to cover our renovation costs. Loans will be secured by our buildings and property. We will begin signing Loan Agreements next week. To learn more, contact [email protected].
Workers are preparing for removal of the Sanctuary roof and south wall during the week of May 26. Asbestos has been dealt with. Wires are being re-routed. You are invited to join us, in person or in Spirit, for a prayer circle at Church on Sunday, May 24 at 12:15pm. Join us in holding all workers, staff, buildings and congregants in prayer for a safe, successful and easy renovation!
Thank you to the following Sponsor-A-Sunday donors who donated $300 to cover the cost of holding services for one Sunday in the Franklin at Brimhall School Auditorium during the month of May. We are so blessed to have our "home away from home" and we are grateful for the donations of time, talent & treasure that make it possible.
